This procedure allows for a thin layer of metal to be applied over a material to protect it, or to give it reflective or decorative qualities. The technology has been perfected over the past two or three decades and is used today on the products you use in your daily life.

The process is called physical vapor deposition, or PVD for short, and allows us to apply thin metal coatings to glass, plastic, or other metallic materials.
